• How can SMS Accounting help my practice?
  • First, we will make sure you are in compliance with all BC Law Society rules. Second, we can take care of most full-cycle bookkeeping activities, and last and most importantly, we’ll help you navigate the different financial scenarios your firm faces.
• Is SMS Accounting insured?
  • Yes, we are fully insured
• Can SMS do our income taxes?
  • Sorry, we don’t do personal or corporate income taxes.

Price + Onboarding

• What is the price for your services?
  • We use a fixed-fee price model; that way, you know exactly how much your invoice will be every time. To be more specific, the price depends on the complexity and volume of your operations and, ultimately, the options you choose.
    For most of the firms we work with, the price for our services is in the range of $1,500 to $6,000 per month.

Support + Others

• What are the first steps in hiring SMS Accounting?
  • We start with a discovery video call to learn about your business, its current state, challenges and expectations. Then we review our notes from that call and prepare a proposal to meet your needs. In a second video call, we discuss and review the proposal which will contain three different options to work together.
• How do you actually onboard new clients?
  • We have a proven and effective process for taking on new clients and transitioning them smoothly from their existing bookkeepers.
  • Once the scope of the service is finalized and we have a signed agreement, our onboarding process kicks in. It consists of three steps: The first is to identify key stakeholders within your firm. Second, request and set up all necessary accesses. Third, we dive into your current processes and way of doing business.
• Can you work from our office?
  • Our business model is 100% online and remote. Unfortunately, we do not provide in-house service.
• How do we pay you?
  • Everything is done online. Once we have a signed agreement, we will also set up an auto-deposit which will automatically take care of the monthly withdrawal from your bank each month.
• What software do you use?
  • The main accounting and practice management software we use is QuickBooks Online, integrated with Clio. We’re somewhat flexible in terms of software as long as the options are cloud-based.
• How do we get support from you if we never see you?
  • That’s the beauty of technology. We offer support mainly through emails and video calls, we also use instant messages and phone calls as needed.
